ANNOUNCEMENTS AS OF APRIL 4, 2021
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, friends!
Following the slowly lifting restrictions of COVID-19, we still have not relaunched our little ministry. However, we hope to be able to soon. In the meantime, I have been helping out and preaching occasionally at Gardner's UMC church, if you would like to join with us there. They are like-minded with our mission of building community and living life together under Christ. With that in mind, I want us to focus on 4 essential things when we think of church: worship, personal growth, mission, and community. Below are some suggested starting points in continuing your spiritual journeys and growth in Christ. If you need more suggestions or have questions, feel free to contact me, and I will be glad to help you come up with some ideas or a plan.
WORSHIP GOD
Our primary purpose is to glorify God. Commonly, this is what we would think about when the Church gathers on Sunday mornings. It is what we had hoped to do when we would gather at The Table on Saturday nights for dinner and a worship service. However, since we can’t meet in-person right now. I strongly encourage you to worship as an individual or a family. Listen to sermons online. Listen to and sing along…really, just immerse yourself in worship music. It could be old hymns or contemporary worship songs or a mix of the two. Pray to God. Read the Bible. Participate in communion if you have the opportunity to. Spend some time in nature, hanging out with God.
KNOWING GOD
This is that time that you spend with God, getting to know Him, developing your personal relationship with Him. It is a relationship with Him, and it is unique between the two of you. Therefore, how you get to know God can take a variety of routes. These are what we know as spiritual disciplines, and the most important (and most common) two disciplines are prayer and Bible study. Pray and read/study your Bible every day. There are a lot of Bible studies to choose from, and there are some that you can participate in online. However, be discerning, because not all Bible studies are good or worth your time. So, do a bit of research before diving in, and I can make some suggestions.
COMMUNITY FOR GOD
Here at Agnus Dei, our motto is “Life Together under Christ”. It’s a bit harder to do that in 2020 (and now into 2021) with social distancing and stay-at-home orders. However, there are still ways for us to maintain community. (Thank goodness for technology and social media!) You can still read along with our book club, Habits of the Mind. You can check up on your neighbors and friends to make sure that they are doing okay and see if they need anything. Just keep in touch with each other, find ways to encourage others, and find ways to help others. We will all need to be creative and think outside the box. Here’s a chance for some of you to use those hidden talents of yours! Even just helping one person can make a huge difference!
MISSION FOR GOD
Our primary mission is to share the gospel of Christ. Again, here is a chance for you to be creative and use your talents! How can you share the hope, love, and Gospel of Christ with others? At Agnus Dei, our main mission is the Zoe Mission and the Loved Bible Project. Loved Bibles can be created for anyone by anyone for any circumstance. Other than that, your mission is to share Christ and His Gospel of hope, truth, and love with others. Our world, our country…we just need a lot of prayer. We can all spend some praying to God about what is happening.
There is no doubt that 2020 has been a crazy year, and 2021 is starting off looking fairly similar. However, I want you to be reassured. God is good. God is the ultimate healer and the source of all Peace. If you feel worried or overwhelmed, turn it over to Him in prayer. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
